On 26 June 2019 Friedrich “Bio” Schmidt-Bleek passed away shortly before his 87th birthday.
SERI would not be what SERI is today without him. He developed the ideas for a comprehensive resource transition, which we have been working toward for 20 years and which have long since found their way into national, European and global politics.
His scientific power of innovation, his courage and drive, his way of asking unconventional and uncomfortable questions are models for us. The ecological rucksack remains our companion.
