Projects: Globalisation, dematerialisation, international trade and environment (planned)

The general objective of the project is to establish a bi-regional network of research, training and policy-advice on globalisation, trade and the environment between the European Union (EU) and Central America and the Caribbean (CAC).

The project aims to undertake an innovative analysis of international resource flows to assess the relationships between trade and environment with particular reference to the differently affected regions in North and South.

The project will provide scientifically-based support to decision-makers and stakeholders in the field of ecological-economic structural reforms in both regions. It will seek to integrate, on an equal level, applied research, human resource training, institutional capacity-building, and dissemination of knowledge and awareness.

All these features should facilitate society-wide education and a change towards more sustainable production, consumption and trade patterns in both regions. The project will be conducted in close cooperation with civil society groups.
