In a new statement supported by 49 experts (including head of SERI Fritz Hinterberger), the Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA) recommends a proposed constitutional commitment to Austria’s economy and business be phrased as aiming at “sustainable development” rather than “growth and employment”.  They further point out that the future development of the Austria and the planet are fundamentally based on the ability to bring together econonomic, social and environmental concerns with the view towards a sustainable development. Given the multiple challenges of the 21st century, economic development must take into account the limits to natural resources in order to contribute to the sustainable well being of the Austrian population.

The Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA), which SERI has recently become a part of, is a research network supported by Austria’s most important research institutions, promoting climate research and climate impact research and fostering collaboration in and among those fields.
