Since July 2013, the Resources Commission at the German Environment Agency (KRU) advises the Agency and makes concrete proposals for the further development of resources policy. It is comprised of experts from business, science and administration, including SERI-Head Friedrich Hinterberger.

At the end of April 2016 KRU published a position paper titled “A resource-efficient Europe – A programme for climate, competitiveness and employment” which states that ambitious resource policy is not only necesarry, but would even be of great economic advantage. It makes reference to EU project POLFREE, where SERI cooperated with several European Partners to devise paths towards a more resource-efficient Europe.
